STATEMENT from the artist -- For the past decade and a half I have been creating work that is strongly influenced by interest in books, history, and the social construction of knowledge. I often work with found printed matter, making use of original photographs, documents, and everyday ephemera to create new and disturbing meanings. Although I began by scavenging for materials in the junk shops, dumpsters, and flea markets of New York City, I soon moved on to institutional collections such as those at the New York Historical Society.
